Things change Part 1

Yesterday was world Parkinson's day, which means that for me it is now almost a year and a half after getting diagnosed. In everything you do repeatedly, or experience frequently or over a long period of time, you should eventually get better and know how to deal with the situation or at least get used to what is happening.

It is now about 450 days after starting to take pills, trying to get used to the situation and trying to live with Parkinson’s Disease. And still, every other day I realize that some things have changed, and some things need to be changed in the way I live.

An example:

I got a new enemy… the door lock :P
Have you seen those funnel shaped locks that help older people and drunks to get the key inside the lock and ultimately them into their apartments? Man would those be helpful! On more than one occasion I probably, tremblingly but involuntarily, morsed vulgarities with my key to whoever was standing behind the door. Haha sometimes it gets to the point that it is almost uncomfortable trying to open a door, especially with my left hand (which worked very well and was the hand of choice for opening a door before).
Now being pragmatic I just switched to kicking doors in, which brings two benefits:
1) You put in the effort to open them just once
and
2) They stay unlocked for a while!

Just kidding, I go to the door lock machine in the gym! There I open up to 3 doors an hour with a key turn force of 45kg. Woohoo, finger abs ;-)  ... to be continued!
